We're doing our best to keep our place a happy, safe and fun environment.

Please read our protocols outlined below.

Symptoms & Wellness Checks

  • Participants should remain home if they have a fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, loss of taste or smell, or have tested positive for COVID-19 in the past 10 days.

  • Participants showing any of the above symptoms will not be able to attend class.

  • Parents and students will be asked for verbal wellness check at the time of arrival to the studio to verify that the participant is not experiencing any symptoms and that he/she has not been directly exposed to COVID-19 or travelled outside restricted areas.

Masks & Face Coverings

  • Mask protocols are based on current provincial health guidelines and are subject to change. Currently masks are mandatory. If that changes and masks are no longer mandatory in class the below protocols would apply.

  • Masks are mandatory for students and parents during student drop off and pick up.

  • Students ages 6 and under may be escorted into the building by one adult.

  • Students ages 7 and up please enter the building alone. XDS staff will greet and assist your child to class.

  • Masks are optional during the duration of your child’s scheduled class. Masks should be stored properly in a sealed zip-lock bag for the duration of class if not worn during class.

  • Students ages 6 and under will be escorted to class by their parent/guardian. Mask can be removed and placed in zip-lock bag for duration of class. Mask will be put back on at the end of class for pickup after sanitizing.

  • Mask protocols may change based on provincial health guidelines. Any changes to protocols will be emailed directly to parents.

  • We have a hierarchy of best practices that we have put into place to provide participants with a safer environment and to help keep us dancing together!

  • All staff members and volunteers of XDS will always be asked to wear masks while interacting with others.  Staff members and volunteers can remove their masks when they are working alone in a room or when they are actively eating or drinking and physically distanced from others.

  • All masks left behind at the studio (cloth or disposable) will be disposed of at the end of each night for safety reasons.

  • Please discuss your family choices with your child before class.  If your child is not allowed to remove their mask during class, please let our team know in advance.  Participants who are unmasked may be considered in direct contact if someone in their class becomes COVID positive and may need to quarantine for 2 weeks.

Getting Ready For Class

  • Change room at the studio is closed.

  • Participants should get dressed for class, fix their hair, and use the restroom at home.

  • Participants should wear freshly washed attire each day of class.

  • Participants should wear street shoes that they can take off and put on by themselves.

  • Participants can arrive in a cover up or jackets as needed for the weather.

  • Get your child’s shoes and water bottle ready.  Please leave extra items at home.

  • Clearly label your child’s items with his/her name.

Drop Off and Pick Up

  • Wait in your car until no more than 5 minutes before class before entering the building.

  • Participants will line up in the lobby maintaining distance until the next class is dismissed.

  • Please help reinforce with your child what studio they will be in A, B or C.

  • Wellness questions will be required upon check in each day your child has class.

  • Children must sanitize hands when they enter the building as well as when they enter and exit the classroom or participate in any floor work.

Symptoms Developing During Class

  • Any participants that develop symptoms during class will have their parent or guardian called to be picked up.

  • Headaches, tummy aches, sore throat, cough, runny nose, fever and the common “I don’t feel good” will all be causes for the participant to go home.  Participants who are sent home must be symptom free for at least 72 hours before returning to class.

  • PLEASE DON’T CRY WOLF!  While some participants, big and small, tend to get an “upset tummy” when their least favourite exercise comes along…please remind them that they will need to be sent home even if they were just hoping to take a break during class.

Teach them to ask us for a break rather than defaulting to not feeling well.  They will be isolated and extra effort and precautions will be taken immediately when a child says they are unwell.  This may be scarier than asking for a break properly.

Restroom Use

  • Restroom use is for emergency only.

  • Students must sanitize prior to entering the bathroom.

  • Restrooms cannot be used for changing. Please change at home.

  • We have increased our bathroom sanitization. Restrooms are assigned to each classroom to facilitate contact tracing.

  • Remember to use the restroom at home before coming to class.

  • For sanitary reasons, sinks are not available to fill water bottles at this time.

Parent Communication System

  • XDS sends out monthly communication in the form of a Studio newsletter which is email delivered right to your inbox.

  • Emails are sent to our registered families in case of last-minute changes or closures.

  • Facebook and Instagram will be updated regularly with the studio’s status.

Facility and Curricular Adjustments

  • All adjustments have been made with the success and safety of the students in mind.

  • Each classroom has been set up and marked with physical distancing between participants

  • All class sizes have been reduced to allow participants to maintain the current recommended physical distancing during class.

  • Our curriculum has been modified to facilitate pivots in the classroom, hybrid learning and online learning.

We are committed to keeping both our faculty and students as safe as possible during these difficult times!

Our team will continue to monitor the situation and adapt our studio protocols as required. Any changes that may occur to our protocols throughout the season will be emailed directly to our families.

Thank you for your continued support!
